Thursday tramp - Waitewaewae track

17 October - A walk in the Tararua Range, starting at Otaki Forks.  Sixteen of us in the group.  There are quite a lot of remains of an old bush railway - metal tracks here and there, and our main destination was an old boiler.  There is a tiny geocache hidden on this boiler which is very hard to find.  In spite of lots of help from my tramping friends we couldn't find it.  I will just have to go back again !

Our track took a detour above this huge slip
At the boiler
I give up - just can't find the geocache today!
Still having fun though
A tricky bit of erosion at the top of another slip - see next photo
We had to clamber along the top of this slip and hang on to the plants.
