Mountain biking The Timber Trail - Day 2

2 November

About to set off from Piropiro campsite

Another of these magnificent bridges - they were very easy and stable to ride on.  This is the Maramataha bridge, the longest (53m) and highest (141m) bridge on the trail

Much of day 2 was on an old bush tramway - the Ellis and Burn tramway.  There were lots of historic relics. Here we inspecting an old rail turntable.
Owen on the Mangatukutuku bridge

An interesting old rail spiral that we rode - first over the top bridge, then through a tunnel and out over the new bridge in the foreground.

Shock! a motor bike on the trail, but it was OK, he is a maintenance worker and was heading in to clear some fallen trees

Rest stop at the spiral

Fantastic views

Done!  Much of this day was enjoyable downhill riding - we rode 42.5km in 4 hours 40 minutes, including all stops
Packing up at the end of the ride, near Ongarue

Back home cleaning the bikes!
